Our team member saved a dog's life

"We chalked it up to allergies."

That's what the pet parents told us after their dog's recent health scare.

Their pup had been having trouble breathing. Like most loving dog owners, they noticed something was off, but breathing issues can seem minor, especially when you're busy and your dog still seems mostly fine.

Then our team member, Taylor, noticed a lump on their pet's neck directly following her dog walk when she was petting her.

She's a certified vet technician, so she knows what to look for. But what made the difference wasn't just her technical knowledge. It was the fact that she was paying attention in the first place.

She gently mentioned it to the owners. They went to the vet. A growing tumor was discovered, benign but pressing on the airway and chest. Surgery was scheduled. The dog is now recovering and breathing normally again.

There's no training program that teaches someone to care this much. You can teach CPR certification. You can teach proper leash handling. You can teach emergency protocols.

But you can't teach someone to notice the small things. To trust their instincts. To speak up even when it might be nothing. To treat someone else's dog with the same level of attention they'd give their own.

That's why every person on our team is chosen for more than just their resume. We look for people who volunteer at shelters. Who have years of hands on experience. Who genuinely love what they do.

Because in this line of work, the little things aren't little at all. Sometimes they're everything.
